AMERICAN FLYER LAYOUT

This layout represented my third round with collecting American Flyer trains and the largest layout attempted.  The problem I had resulted from my earlier insistence that I have a layout for each of my interests - I do like to run, not just look at - the trains..  The layout was fun, the accessories operated well and were a hit with visitors, but I learned that "you can't eat just one".  The layout and collection became static and I found myself running it only for visitors.  Now, if I had devoted the entire room to Flyer - - - .  So, when Mary Jane saw an article in O Gauge Railroading which included photos of Bill Bramlage's fantastic layout which extended down to the floor, she said that I ought to consider that.  In addition, with my love of scenery, I noted that I had not attempted any mountainous areas on the layout.  It all converged with the decision to tear down the Flyer layout, sell all the equipment to lessen the temptation to start all over again, and add a mountain branch line to the Seligman and Paulden Lines.  Here, then, is a photo album of the now gone Flyer layout.
